The traditional Breton Coat of Arms.According to legend the ermine spot was picked
because several centuries ago Anne of Brittany witnessed the bravery of an ermine
when chased by hunters-Wikipedia

An interesting place to visit  is Port Louis at the mouth of Lorient harbour.
The citadel was built by the Spanish in 1590 when Philip II was backing Brittany
against the French king Henry IV,a Protestant. There is a very good museum,a fort and
when we visited ,there were children's rides close to the parking area.

Pointe du Raz

This is named after the Raz de Sein, the dangerous stretch of water between the pointe and the island of Sein. This granite spur is in constant battle with the crashing waves and strong winds.

The lighthouse of "La Vieille" can be seen behind the rocks.

Although it is not quite the westernmost extent of France, its rocky isolation makes it a popular tourist destination.

Sign post with many world directions, Ouessant Island, off the coast of Brest.
The island, about 5 miles  long and 2 miles  wide, has an area of 6 square miles . Its lighthouse, the Phare de Créac'h, one of the most powerful in the world, marks the southern entrance to the English Channel. The seas around the island are treacherous with strong currents, there have also been many naval battles nearby, between the French and  British  in the past centuries. The island also has  an English name Ushant ,unique in Brittany.
